The keys on screen don't match my keyboard
Typano detects your layout when you set up a profile. If it guessed wrong, open Settings → Keyboard and choose your layout (US or UK QWERTY, German QWERTZ, French AZERTY).
My piano isn't showing up
With a cable: plug the piano in with USB before opening the lesson, then allow MIDI access when the browser asks. Safari can’t talk to MIDI pianos — use Chrome, Edge or Firefox, the microphone, or the on-screen piano with the A to K keys. See Connect your piano for pictures, troubleshooting and a live test.
Can I connect my piano with Bluetooth?
Yes, if it has Bluetooth MIDI (many pianos only stream audio over Bluetooth — check the manual for "Bluetooth MIDI" or use a Bluetooth MIDI adapter in the MIDI or USB port). Turn it on, then choose Connect a Bluetooth piano in the piano menu, during set-up or in Settings, and pick it from the list. No pairing or driver is needed in Chrome, Edge and Opera on Windows, Mac, Android and Chromebooks (Firefox and Safari can’t use Bluetooth pianos). On iPhone and iPad, use the Bluefy browser. Don’t pair it with another app at the same time, and keep it within a few metres; if it drops out, the lesson pauses while Typano tries to reconnect, and the piano menu offers Reconnect. Can I use an acoustic piano?
Yes. Choose Use microphone in the piano menu and allow the microphone: your device listens to the piano and turns its sound into notes. Put it 1–2 m from the piano in a quiet room. Single notes work best. Microphone tips
I blocked piano access by mistake
In Chrome or Edge, click the icon at the left of the address bar, set MIDI devices (or Microphone) to Allow and reload. In Firefox, open the site permissions from the address bar and allow MIDI access. More fixes
I forgot the parent PIN
On the PIN screen, choose Forgot the PIN? and set a new one with the account password. After 5 wrong tries the PIN is locked for 15 minutes. You can also change the PIN any time under Account.
How do I delete a child's data?
Go to Account → Data and privacy. You can export a profile first, then delete it. Deletion is permanent after 30 days.
For parents
Children use profiles inside your account. Before the first child profile, we ask for parental consent and a 4-digit parent PIN. The PIN guards the parent area, the account and any purchase.
Imported songs, AI lessons and friend requests wait in Approvals until you say yes. Session caps end practice with a celebration, never a hard cut. Read the privacy summary for what we keep.
